چکیده
Common Hepatitis A and B viruses Rare Hepatitis C and D (6) viruses, Epstein-Barr virus, Cytomegalovirus Among a subpopulation ofhomosexual men the risk ofinfection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) has brought about a change in sexual behaviour with a reduction in the number of partners and "safer" sexual practices. This has resulted in a reduced incidence ofcommon sexually transmitted diseases, many ofwhich affect the gastrointestinal tract and liver. A variety ofnew syndromes affecting both systems are, however, being recognised as complications ofHIV infection, many ofwhich fulfil the criteria for AIDS.

Intra-hepatic arterial pseudoaneurysm causing life-threatening upper gastrointestinal bleed after removal of biliary drainage catheter
Hepatic artery pseudoaneurysms are an uncommon complication of percutaneous biliary drainage catheter insertion. The authors report a case of a hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm following percutaneous internal-external biliary drain insertion. This led to massive haemobilia when the catheter was removed and presented clinically as life-threatening upper gastrointestinal bleed. The clinical and imag...

Congenital hepatic fibrosis (CHF) is a rare autosomal recessive disease that primarily affects the hepatobiliary and renal systems. It is characterized by hepatic fibrosis, portal hypertension, and renal cystic disease. Firm or hard hepatomegaly is present nearly in all patients, often with a prominent left lobe, and this is usually one of the presenting signs. The haematological manifestations...
متن کاملThe liver in pediatric gastrointestinal disease.
Hepatic involvement is often encountered in gastrointestinal (GI) diseases, in part because of the close anatomic and physiologic relations between the liver and GI tract. Drainage of the mesenteric blood supply to the portal vein permits absorbed and/or translocated nutrients, toxins, bacterial elements, cytokines, and immunocytes to gain hepatic access. Liver problems in digestive disorders m...
متن کاملGASTROINTESTINAL BLEEDING FROM A FISTULA BETWEEN A HEPATIC ARTERY ANEURYSM AND THE DUODENUM: A CASE REPORT AND REVIEW OF THE LI TERATURE
Hepatic artery aneurysms are a rare cause of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage and may represent significant problems in both diagnosis and management. We report a 70 year old patient with gastrointestinal bleeding from a fistula between a 7 cm hepatic artery aneurysm and the duodenum. He underwent successful surgical management with endoaneurysmorrhaphy and duodenal wall repair.

The portal hypertension is responsible for many of the manifestations of liver cirrhosis. Some of these complications are the direct consequences of portal hypertension, such as gastrointestinal bleeding from ruptured gastroesophageal varices and from portal hypertensive gastropathy and colopathy, ascites and hepatorenal syndrome, and hypersplenism. In other complications, portal hypertension p...
